Firebrand is an unusual Bottlebrush because it develops
into a mounded ground cover rather than an upright shrub. It is a cultivar of Callistemon
citrinus. “Firebrand” grows well at Yallaroo and presents us with
bright red brushes in late spring and early summer. A colourful plant for
inclusion in a large rockery or as a foreground plant in shrubberies. Remove
the spent flowers to maintain dense foliage and bounteous blooming. Because it
is a cultivar propagation must be from cuttings that strike readily.
