Eremophila nivea x
drummondii: is one of a few hybrid Emu Bushes. This small shrub with
upright growth habit has characteristics of both parents (Eremophila nivea
and Eremophila drummondii). The dark green linear leaves are inherited
from the latter parent whilst the mauve, tubular flowers owe their colour to
the former parent. The plants become covered with flowers in spring and
summer. When flowering, this hybrid Eremophila becomes an eye-catching
plant. Our specimens have proved to be both frost resistant and drought
tolerant.
A group of two or three plants cultivated close together would create an
interesting “specimen clump”. The plants appreciate good drainage and
pruning after flowering.
This hybrid Emu Bush propagates readily from cuttings.
